Well the last races of the season had arrived on the British GT support package. I’d never raced here before and only done a couple of test days but
on the national circuit not the GP circuit so my challenge was to learn the last 2 corners in qualifying! As usual no pressure!
Saturday race day started very wet and even though I didn’t know the full track and it was raining I managed to qualify 9th out of a 41 car grid.
Race 1 was still wet I lost a few places on the first corner but managed to battle back to finish 10th.
Race 2 started 10th and making sure I didn’t repeat the start from race 1 I made up 3 places on lap 1 and moved up to 6th on lap 3.
On the penultimate lap, I found myself pushing hard in the battle for a place on the podium but despite moving up to fourth on the final lap, I crossed the line side by side just missing out on the podium by just 0.009secs shy of what would have been my first podium finish!. Slightly gutted but at the same time my best finish this season.
We’ve ended the season being the quickest we have been all year, and if I can keep developing and learning during the winter, then there is no reason why me and the team can’t be right in the mix at the front of the grid in 2017.
I’m confident that the experience gained over the year will prove to be beneficial in the future.
I end the season 14th in the championship standings event though I’ve had a few DNF and only raced 16 out of 19 races
We’ve had our ups and downs this season, so I’m ecstatic to have picked up my best result at the final round and it’s a big plus to take into the winter. I had some of my sponsors – and also some potential sponsors – at the circuit with me, so to have picked up a good result in front of them is particularly pleasing as I wouldn’t have been on the grid without the support of everyone who has backed me this year. Now the hard work starts to put everything together to return next season.
A massive thank to Richardson Racing for believing in me and working with me this year.
At the start of the year I only had the budget for 3 rounds with little testing and to get funding for the remaining season was amazing!
Also big thank you to Dave Ayres for tirelessly taking amazing pictures of me.
And also of course to my mum and dad for their endless support!
Now towards an even better 2017 – If you’d like to join in the excitement I am activly looking for sponsors for next years racing – get in touch all budgets catered for.
